This cute dun mare was seized by the NM Livestock Board in Torrance County due to serious neglect, but she has reached a healthy weight and has come really far at trusting humans. With a confident handler, she can now be calmly led past cars, tractors, people, and other horses. While Oakley will not approach you to be caught, she does let you walk right up to halter her.
Oakley is feeling more confident with in-hand obstacles and has picked up on light cues for lunging. She’s been working on loading in trailer straight without turning to face the back once she gets in.
Overall, Oakley is intelligent, kind, and not the least bit aggressive. She really prefers to follow and not lead. Oakley is just looking for the right home to love her and allow her to blossom.
