Anna is one of four donkeys who came to us as part of a large seizure by the New Mexico Livestock Board. She was a fairly healthy weight when she came to us, but her feet were overgrown. She is also a geriatric donkey with dental issues (many missing and loose teeth) so a special diet is required for her. She also has a mild case of Cushing’s and is on an inexpensive daily medication to control it.
Our trainers and volunteers are working hard to help her overcome her shyness but she’s come a long way. She takes a while to warm up to strangers. Despite her age, Anna still exhibits a lot of spunk and exuberantly does her “donkey job” of protecting the herd from dogs.
