Sage is a petite and pretty palomino mare with gorgeous dapples coming in. Shockingly, this sweetheart was found estray near Las Cruces by the New Mexico Livestock Board but she found her way to us, which is lucky not only for us but especially for her future adopter!
Sage really isn’t very spooky - mainly green horse issues. She recently spent 30 days being trained under saddle where she worked on carrying her body, forward movement, and trail riding. She even took part in a drill team practice! Under saddle, Sage has very smooth gaits and transitions. She pick up both leads well and does best with an O-ring snaffle bit.
On the ground, Sage drops her head for the halter, picks up her feet nicely to be cleaned, and stands quietly for grooming including fly spray. She walks right into the trailer and backs out only when asked. She enjoys playing in the round pen during free lunging, yet calms down and follows commands and direction while on the lunge line. She’s also fearless with in-hand obstacles.
Since Sage is still young, she would do best with an intermediate to advanced rider. She is very easy to be around and her temperament is very relaxed. She would make someone an excellent trail or arena horse.
