Cute Rocco was found by the Livestock Board in central New Mexico with Roy, another gelding, and they both went unclaimed. Upon arrival, Rocco was healthy and seemed to have been handled regularly. Since working with our trainers he has improved his ground skills, including join up, driving, and respecting the handler’s space.
Because Rocco’s groundwork improved greatly in the first two months of his time with us, our trainers performed an initial assessment under saddle. He handled as if he may have some cow sense. He’s only been ridden in a round pen (at all three gaits), and he needs to be worked regularly to gain more muscle and stamina. Rocco tends to be on the lazy side, can be herd bound, and needs encouragement to get moving. Our trainers will begin finishing him under saddle soon.
Rocco has white eyelids and will need to wear a fly mask year round.
