This very affectionate mare was surrendered to us when her elderly horse companion passed away, and not wanting her to be lonely, Rita’s owner reached out to us to find her a new family. Rita has successfully completed her ground training, which means she does well in the round pen, stands for farrier, and can be loaded into a trailer.
Rita has a mild case of Cushing’s and is on an inexpensive daily medication to control it, but this also means a healthy diet is important for her. Rita is very affectionate and bonds very quickly to other horses. Because of arthritis and a previous leg injury, she is only eligible for adoption as a non-rideable companion.
