This cute bay gelding was taken in by the NM Livestock board and found his way to us. Maverick is a people horse and adores attention! He’s an overall respectful guy and is very easy to catch, halter, clean feet, and groom. He also lunges well in a round pen.
Under saddle, Maverick works well off leg pressure and is being ridden with a smooth snaffle bit. His most favorite thing is trail riding. He also does well riding around and over obstacles like bridges and poles, and is learning to back up smoothly. He can sometimes spook at unfamiliar things, but his reactions are minimal and he’s slowly building confidence. Maverick has a tendency to over flex as an avoidance tactic, but with some time and patience, he should make a very solid trail horse. An intermediate rider would be best for him to continue his training and to teach other skills.
