Luna, a beautifully stout bay mare, has been well loved her entire life. Her former owner has struggled with health issues recently and wanted to secure a bright future for both Luna and her partner, Takini, by surrendering them to us.

Luna has foaled three times while with her former owner, all healthy foals. She has been ridden extensively in the Pecos mountains, making her a great trail horse prospect. She’s been exposed to wildlife such as bears, cougars, coyotes, and smaller animals. Apparently she’s not a fan of water or bridges under saddle, but will cross otherwise. She was also used to take younger children on rides.

Under her first saddle assessment with us, Luna did not seem to understand yielding to the leg or neck reining, but does ok with a direct rein. She is responsive when she’s asked to stop and back. She requires a lot of pressure to push into a trot and, while she has yet to buck under saddle, she seemed tense enough to want to. We have not yet attempted a canter. Our trainers will keep working with her to improve her skill level. A more advanced rider will be suitable for Luna.
