F O O T   S P O N S O R S   A R E   N E E D E D !   An average farrier trim in New Mexico runs approximately $35.00. Trims are required every 6 weeks to protect the most important aspect of the horse's physique-the feet. Some horses require special shoeing and farrier work, which could run as high as $80.00 every 4 weeks. With a minimum of 40 on-site horses, the farrier service can become overwhelming very quickly.

With the exception of horses who have urgent medical needs, the farrier bill for an equine is generally the most expensive maintenance issue. WNCR uses the best farrier service available for our horses. While there are less expensive services out there, in trimming and shoeing, you most definitely get what you pay for. Our farrier has arranged a special rate for WNCR, for which we are grateful.

Anyone interested can sign up to be a foot sponsor for WNCR. The sponsor can provide $35.00 per month to a specific horse or a general farrier fund. This money will be used to provide adequate and timely farrier service for our horses.

B E C O M E   A   C O N E R STONE  M E M B E R   O F   O U R   T E A M !  Even though an individual may not be able to join in on the daily operations of the barn, a cornerstone of our operation is the funding, which we receive from private donations. There are several levels of annual memberships available. All levels receive the WNCR newsletter, special mailings, and a bumper sticker. With the receipt of the newsletter, mailings, and by displaying the bumper sticker, the member has a sense of pride knowing that he/she has made a difference in the life of a horse.

Membership applications can be made though e-mail, US mail or over the phone. For our member's convenience, we accept checks, money orders and credit cards through Pay Pal. No cash through the mail, please! Members can also schedule personal visits to the ranch to see exactly how their money is being put to use.

S P O N S O R S   F O R   W N C R   N E E D E D !  A sponsor for an equine at WNCR is a person who is directly connected to a specific horse. Some sponsors will be able to provide funding for a specific horse alone, while others may prefer to co-sponsor a horse.

A basic horse sponsorship is $100.00 per month. While we do have and continue to seek individuals to sponsor horses, the basic sponsorship cost per month (for food, supplements, farrier and vet care, etc.) may be more easily shared by multiple friends or an organization. WNCR recognizes this and does provide an avenue to bring a group of individuals together for this purpose.

Co-sponsoring a horse can be done for as little as $25.00 per month. Co-sponsoring can be a family or group event as well. If an individual would like to co-sponsor a horse, that individual will select the horse, which he/she desires to sponsor, and WNCR will seek additional sponsors and/or matching funds from corporate entities.

For those who are unable to regularly visit their sponsored horse, photos will be sent along with quarterly updates on the horse’s progress. Each sponsor will also receive a WNCR bumper sticker, and a WNCR calendar. What a great way to contribute to the loving care of a special horse.

For those who wish, riding sponsorships are also available. Riding sponsors, like basic sponsors, shoulder the average monthly cost of caring for their chosen horse, but they also may ride in the arena or on the trails as often as their schedule, and their horse's condition allow. For just $150.00 per month the riding sponsor has all of the benefits of horse ownership with none of the risks, as well as the satisfaction of knowing they helped to rescue one of these wonderful animals.

D O N A T I O N S   A R E   A L W A Y S   W E L C O M E !   WNCR also teaches basic classes in handling, grooming, understanding, and riding horses for our volunteers. Thus, we have a great need for tack and grooming tools. Donations of used or new tack, saddles, halters, lead ropes, hoof picks, combs, shedding brushes, mane/tail conditioners, muck forks and muck buckets, rags and water buckets, fly sprays, and riding helmets are in great demand at our ranch. We appreciate the donations, which we receive, and take very good care of the items. All are used. In some cases, we may not have a need for the size or type of tack, which has been donated, and so we might sell them to raise money for the ranch.
