Admission to WNCR
There are several paths that will bring an equine to WNCR. We provide a limited number
of stalls for the boarding of horses for equine owners. These horses, or 'boarders', help WNCR with their income. By providing a steady flow of revenue to the
facility, we can then offset costs associated with rescue and urgent medical care for others. Our boarded horses are provided shelter, food, excellent care and
grooming. For an additional fee each month, they can be ridden and worked in accordance with the requirements of the owner. They are able to merge into the little herds,
which are created by age and gender. Aside from the pleasure of being with other horses, our boarded horse's owners enjoy using the lighted arenas, round pens,
trails and general facilities at WNCR. The owners who board here are not only giving a caring environment for their equine, but they are also helping the ranch in turn.
It's a win, win, win situation for all.
When space allows, we accept donations of horses whose owners are no longer able to properly care for them as well. Sometimes situations arise when a horse
owner will have geographic or financial commitments, which are not conducive to the proper care an equine requires. In those cases, the owner desires to relinquish
the horse to provide an immediate and long-term home for them. We have the ultimate respect for those individuals who realize their inability to provide proper shelter,
food, and support for their equine friend. For a small intake donation, we accept these horses into the fold and work to find a new family to love them.
On rare occasions, horses may be purchased for the purpose of rescue. These are cases where it is deemed the only way to remove the animal from a destructive
situation and under circumstances where there is a clear and present danger for the animal if it remains in its existing environment for any length of time.
This may include the rescue of a horse from a slaughter or action
WNCR will work with law enforcement, state veterinarians, and livestock authorities to provide temporary shelter and urgent care for equines, which are confiscated
in neglect and abuse cases.
In summary, horses can come from many different sources: Individual homes, state or local authorities, donations, and out-right purchases. All horses, regardless
of the state of admission, receive the best care and protection at our ranch.
| Soul Keepers   Each soul entrusted to WNCR is protected and elevated by walking through the gates of our sanctuary... |
In addition, WNCR will report and assist in reported abuse and neglect cases within the State of New Mexico. Individuals are encouraged to contact the
ranch to report suspected abuse and neglect incidents involving equines. Individuals who report cases will be kept anonymous, if desired. Such individuals
are heroes in our eyes. WNCR will provide assistance in the coordination and recovery of neglected and abused equines. These situations range from horses being
confined and starved for long periods of time to horses that have been left to fend for themselves on open pastures without water or proper food and shelter.
| Balance   WNCR has the capacity to heal the broken hearts and souls of the fallen... |
WNCR will also advocate and participate in revisions to the laws of the State of New Mexico relative to qualifying animals and seeking maximum punitive action for
individuals, who are charged with neglect and abuse.
